Academic Position at the Department of Statistics and Operations Analysis, Faculty of Business and Economics

Research Area: applied statistics

The Department of Statistics and Operations Analysis provides education in exact scientific disciplines with a mathematical foundation. Statistical study at all levels presents an overview of all essential and most commonly used tools and methods needed for the analysis of economic data and the creation of economic models in practice.

What will be your job responsibilities?

  • preparatory work for educational activities
  • teaching exercises and seminars in the fields of statistics/econometrics
  • collaboration in teaching in Czech and English
  • supervision, consultation, and review of student theses and seminar papers
  • preparation and/or evaluation of written assignments and tests
  • professional work for research activities
  • active participation in solving research projects and grants
  • publishing results in professional and scientific journals and presenting at conferences and seminars

What do we expect from you?

  • university degree at the master’s/doctoral level in a relevant field
  • excellent knowledge of Czech (C2) and advanced knowledge of English (B2)
  • interest in effectively transmitting acquired knowledge and skills to students
  • ability to lecture, lead seminars and engage students
  • experience in supervising student theses at least in the role of consultant
  • publications in reputable journals appropriate to the length of the academic career
  • excellent communication skills
  • familiarity with the university environment

What research experience do we require?

  • publications in applied mathematics, applied statistics, and modeling

What would we also appreciate?

  • practical experience in teaching statistics/econometrics at the university level
  • international experience
  • experience publishing in impact journals as a first/corresponding author
