The dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, announces a selection procedure for job vacancy with a deadline for applications

- teaching lectures and seminars (specific requirements: Bachelor’s Seminar II; coordination of the course “Germany after 1990” – once every two years; additional teaching in accordance with the Individual Career Development Plan, as agreed with the department chair and based on the workload; Contemporary History of German-Speaking Countries; The German Question – the last two courses are taught as part of distance learning and are compensated beyond the scope of the workload)
- independent scientific and research activities, participation in KNRS projects, membership in a research center
- coordination of KNRS study program plans (Karolinka)
- serving on examination committees (organizing comprehensive exams, state exams, and entrance exams)
- supervising students and evaluating student work
- workload of 0.25–0.5 FTE (10–20 hours per week)
- expected start on October, 1st, 2026; fixed-term employment contract through August 31, 2029
- salary commensurate with the level of employment (for those who have earned a Ph.D., the classification is AP2 and the salary is 42,000 CZK for full-time employment; for those currently pursuing a Ph.D., the classification is AP21 and the salary is 36,000 CZK for full-time employment)
- system of performance bonuses for publication activity and the possibility of involvement in additional projects
- the opportunity to submit national and international projects with compensation in addition to the base salary

Qualifications
a university degree in one of the following fields: modern and contemporary history, area studies, political science, or international relations a Ph.D. or M.A. degree (or in the final phase of doctoral studies, to be completed within three years) experience with project and grant activities excellent knowledge of German and English, both spoken and written knowledge of Czech at the C1 level

- ontemporary history of German-speaking countries with a focus on modern German and Austrian history, the German question, and political and social developments after 1945
