Academic Position at the Department of Wood Science and Technology, Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology

Research Field: sawing production, non-destructive testing of roundwood and sawn timber

The Department has long been engaged in academic and scientific activities focused on the study of wood properties, wood-based materials, wood processing technologies, and the construction of timber structures. Its activities encompass all areas related to wood processing and usage, from traditional crafts to Industry 4.0. In developing new materials, processes, and technologies, we draw on the results of the latest science, but we are not afraid to learn from history. We tackle significant projects in cooperation with foreign institutions and with Czech and multinational companies, primarily through projects such as TAČR, GAČR, Interreg Europe, Horizon Europe, and NAKI.

What will your job role?

  • leading seminars and selected lectures for the subjects Basic Wood Processing, Sawing Production
  • collaboration on lectures in Czech and English
  • supervision, consultation, and opposition of students‘ final theses
  • active participation in solving research projects and grants (submitting and managing)
  • publishing results in professional and scientific journals and as contributions at conferences and seminars

What do we expect from you?

  • Master’s degree in Wood Engineering, Wood Processing Technology and Management, or a related field
  • ability to teach in Czech and English
  • knowledge of sawing technologies
  • active participation in scientific projects
  • publication activity

What research experience do we require?

  • experience in solving or participating in projects
  • publication outputs from projects

What additional skills will we appreciate?

  • experience with statistical software STATISTICA, AUTOCAD
  • practical experience in woodworking production
