Academic Staff Member – Assistant for the Department of Planting Design and Maintenance

Research field: technologies and plant use in landscape architecture, habitat ecology

We are a modern university, teaching and researching agriculture, forestry, economic and technical disciplines in regional and international contexts. Since 2018, we have been the holder of the HR Excellence in Research Award for improving employee care, awarded to us as the first Czech university by the European Commission.

Department of Planting Design and Maintenance in its pedagogical, research, artistic and creative activities is focused on the issues of establishment, maintenance, management, evaluation and protection of greenery objects in settlements and in the countryside including suburban forests. Currently, the depatment’s portfolio also includes green and blue infrastructure concepts for municipalities and urban greenery information management issues. Applied research in the field of restoration of monuments of garden and landscape architecture and introduction of new field technologies is also important.

What will be your job role?

  • conducting lectures and exercises in the fields of Project documentation of buildings (Performance of author’s and technical supervision, Standards of project documentation), Planting (Passport of greenery, Care plan, Site preparation, Construction management, Budgeting and technology)
  • conducting, consulting and opposing student theses
  • developing educational and scientific research and creative activities in the given field
  • active participation in the solution of research projects and grants
  • publishing results in professional and scientific journals and in the form of contributions at conferences and seminars

What are our requirements?

  • Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Horticulture
  • excellent knowledge of the Czech language
  • personal and professional prerequisites for pedagogical work
  • experience in supervising student theses at least as a consultant
  • ability to create applied outputs
  • active participation in scientific research projects especially from the NAKI programme
  • publishing activities

Required research experience:

  • research experience including contribution to outputs (NAKI programme an advantage)

Job status: 0,4 (16 hours per week)

Expected start: September 2025

Employment contract: fixed term for 3 years with the possibility of extenision
