Academic Position at the Department of Horticultural Technologies, Faculty of Horticulture

Research Area: agriculture and horticulture with a focus on materials, food and construction engineering

The department provides education in both general and specialized subjects for all study programs at the Faculty of Horticulture, aiming to acquire the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary for mastering professional studies. The teaching is primarily focused on issues related to the mechanization of horticultural production, mechanization in the municipal sector, biomass processing, waste management, and horticultural buildings. Significant attention is given to monitoring the latest trends in the design of modern machines and equipment for the cultivation and processing of fruits, vegetables, and grapes. The professional activities of the department also include the design, implementation, and testing of irrigation systems, application of automation and robotics elements, and solving materials and construction aspects of horticultural buildings. The department possesses high-quality technical, laboratory, computational, and field facilities, which are utilized in both teaching and research activities.

What will your job involve?

  • preparation and delivery of selected lectures and exercises in technically oriented subjects in the field of materials, food, and construction engineering
  • collaboration on lectures in Czech and English
  • guiding and reviewing students’ final theses
  • developing educational, scientific-research, and creative activities in the field
  • actively seeking, preparing, and participating in research projects and grants and contractual research projects
  • publishing results in professional and scientific journals and in the form of contributions at conferences and seminars (including international)

What do we expect from you?

  • Master’s degree in a technical or agricultural field with a focus on food, materials, or process engineering, and/or successful completion of ongoing postgraduate studies within 1 year of employment, or commencement of postgraduate studies within 1 year of employment
  • excellent command of Czech and English (both spoken and written)
  • ability to work independently, constructively, and responsibly
  • active participation in scientific projects
  • positive and proactive approach to problem-solving
  • experience in presenting results of creative activities
  • good knowledge of PC usage (MS Office, Adobe, Internet, preferably AutoCAD)

What research experience do we require? 

  • experience in research in the field of agriculture, horticulture, horticultural engineering, machines and
  • equipment for post-harvest processing of horticultural products
  • experience in solving grant projects and contractual research contracts

What additional skills do we value?

  • professional experience in teaching or in the field of agricultural engineering
  • willingness to engage in continuous education and professional and career development
  • driving license group B, active driver
