The Department of Experimental Plant Biology at the Faculty of Science, Charles University (Prague, Czech Republic), one of Europe’s oldest and most distinguished universities, invites applications for a postdoctoral position within the frame of one or both of the following Research Groups:

We are seeking a motivated early-career scientist who will advance research on plant development in the context of environmental factors, foster innovation, and engage actively in a collaborative academic environment. The successful candidate is expected to carry out high-quality, internationally competitive research, making effective use of the department’s and faculty’s core facilities.

The ideal candidate will have a solid publication record relative to career stage and a strong conceptual understanding of morphogenesis in the context of environmental factors.

The successful candidate will join an established and supportive research team, with the opportunity to progressively develop their own research ideas and scientific independence.

  • Attachment 1: a track record of research funding, specifying grants obtained as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator (if aplicable)
  • Attachment 2: a brief research proposal (maximum 3 pages including references) with a focus compatible with the research of the above-mentioned groups
  • Attachment 3: two letters of recommendation, or contact details for at least two referees

Applications will be evaluated by a departmental committee, and shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview (in person or online).

The Committee may invite selected candidates to give a lecture to the academic community of the Faculty.

Qualifications

The successful candidate should: Hold (or be close to completing) a PhD in plant biology Demonstrate enthusiasm, curiosity, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team Actively seek out external research funding Have experience relevant to plant morphogenesis or a related area Show willingness to develop new skills and research directions Previous postdoctoral experience is not required, but highly experienced candidates with a clear interest in developing their own research profile are encouraged to apply.
