The Dean of the Faculty of Education at J. E. Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem announces an external selection procedure to fill the position of academic staff member in the Department of English at the Faculty of Education, UJEP.

Position/Field of Work/Number of Available Positions: • 1 position as Assistant Professor

Job Description/Responsibilities: The selected candidate is expected to teach and oversee courses in Literatures in English; supervise diploma and bachelor’s theses; develop pedagogical, research, and publishing activities; and potentially contribute to the development of international activities and projects.

Qualifications: A Master’s degree in English Studies, ongoing or completed doctoral studies (Ph.D.), and ideally initiated or completed habilitation or appointment proceedings in the field of Literatures in English. Language competence: English language C1+.

Workload: Full-time (1.0).

Expected Start Date: September 1, 2026.

Place of Employment: Department of English, Faculty of Education, UJEP, Ústí nad Labem.

Information on the Selection Procedure and Criteria: The selection procedure will take place in person/online. In the first stage of the selection process, applications will be assessed based on the submitted documents. Shortlisted candidates will subsequently be invited for an interview, during which they may be asked to provide references or additional information to verify the information provided. Candidates will briefly present their previous professional experiences and outline their vision for the position. The selection will be based on the candidate’s academic qualifications, professional expertise, creative contributions, and the vision they present.
