Academic position at the Department of Forest Botany, Dendrology and Geobiocenology, Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology

Research area: biostatistics, computational biology, and integration of multidimensional data in plant genetics, physiology, phytochemistry, and environmental metabolomics

The Department of Forest Botany, Dendrology and Geobiocenology is one of the largest institutes at the faculty and oversees the teaching of a wide range of subjects focused on plants and their communities, particularly general and special botany, dendrology, phytoecology, forest typology, landscape ecology, nature and landscape conservation, geobiocenology, and eco-physiology of woody plants. It also focuses on issues of botany, dendrology, agroforestry in tropical and subtropical regions. The institute manages a comprehensive herbarium (with about 60,000 specimens) and the arboreta in Křtiny, Řícmanice, and Habrůvka. Integral components also include research, development, and teaching projects in both temperate zones and tropical and subtropical regions.

What will your job entail?

  • teaching courses for DSP and ERASMUS students: Scientific data management, Phytochemistry, Chemical ecology, Innovative methodologies in Forestry Science
  • mentoring master’s and doctoral students
  • active participation in interdisciplinary networks connecting plant physiology, biostatistics, and environmental sciences
  • independent scientific and research work including publishing results in professional and scientific journals and presenting at conferences and seminars

What do we expect from you?

  • University degree at the Ph.D. level in natural sciences or related fields
  • excellent command of the English language, proficiency in another European language is an advantage
  • at least 15 years of experience in science and research
  • H index higher than 15
  • experience in addressing European projects

What research experience do we require?

  • multidisciplinary expertise connecting quantitative biology, plant physiology, metabolomics, and
  • environmental sciences with biostatistics
