The Department of Pharmacognosy and Pharmaceutical Botany at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Charles University, is seeking a motivated academic staff member with an interest in teaching and research activities in the field of pharmacognosy and pharmaceutical botany. The successful candidate is expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in both Czech and English, develop their own research activities, and progressively engage in grant applications and professional collaborations within an internationally oriented academic environment.

  • a fixed-term employment contract with the possibility of extension and conversion to a permanent position (in accordance with the Career Regulations of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Charles University)

Wage conditions are governed by the valid Internal Salary Regulation of Charles University with the prospect of an increase through the personal assessment after the probationary period, other incentive bonuses, and the possibility of further increases in the event of participation in grants/projects.

AP1 (Assistant) – basic wage 33.000 CZK; average wage for this position at the Faculty of Pharmacy in 2025 – CZK 40.000 for a 1.0 FTE
AP2 (Assistant Professor) – basic wage 39.000 CZK; average wage for this position at the Faculty of Pharmacy in 2025 – CZK 69.000 for a 1.0 FTE
AP3 (Associate Professor) – basic wage CZK 46.000; average wage for this position at the Faculty of Pharmacy in 2025 – CZK 95.000 for a 1.0 FTE
AP4 (Full Professor) – basic wage CZK 55.000; average wage for this position at the Faculty of Pharmacy in 2025 – CZK 142.000 for a 1.0 FTE

Qualifications

Requirements: completed Ph.D. degree in pharmacognosy, botany or a related field (or near completion) ability to communicate effectively in English for international applicants, willingness to acquire Czech language skills to the extent necessary for teaching activities publication record in a relevant area of research interest in teaching and professional development within an academic environment ability to work both independently and collaboratively experience from an international research stay, international collaboration, or the pharmaceutical industry is considered an advantage
