Academic Staff Member – Assistant Professor/Associate Professor for the Department of Informatics

We are a modern university, teaching and researching agriculture, forestry, economic and technical disciplines in regional and international contexts. Since 2018, we have been the holder of the HR Excellence in Research Award for improving employee care, awarded to us as the first Czech university by the European Commission.

The Department of Informatics primarily provides teaching of informatics study programmes at the Faculty of Business and Economics of Mendel University in Brno. It also partly teaches specialised IT courses for economic study programmes. Courses are taught in both Czech and English. Apart from teaching, he focuses on research and development in the areas of mobile applications, web technologies and Industry 4.0. It emphasizes the use of methods from the field of artificial intelligence, analysis of large-scale data and innovative methods of communication with the user.

Research field: Communication Protocols of Computer Networks, Tools and Technologies for Cybersecurity Operating Systems, Security, Vulnerability, Artificial Intelligence in Network Security, Big Data Analysis for Network Security

What will be your job role?

  • conducting lectures and exercises primarily in the IS/ICT Administration program – mainly courses focused on the design and management of computer networks, cybersecurity, and operating systems (not necessarily all of these areas)
  • cooperation on lectures in Czech and English
  • supervising, consulting and opposing student theses
  • developing educational, scientific research and creative activities in the field
  • active participation in research projects and grants
  • publishing research and development results at conferences and in scientific journals

What are our requirements?

  • completed university education in IT or a related field at least at the level of a Master’s degree, preferred completion of doctoral studies
  • excellent knowledge of Czech language at C1 level and English language at B2 level (ability to conduct lectures, exercises, and fluently discuss professional topics)
  • experience in supervising student theses primarily in the IS/ICT Administration study program
  • research/teaching/practical knowledge in the areas of computer network management, cybersecurity, operating systems (not necessarily in all areas) – demonstrable practice of at least one year (teaching, practical management experience, etc.) in at least one of the mentioned areas
  • publication activity

Required research experience:

  • at least one publication in a professional journal or conference
  • or at least 5 years of professional experience and a willingness to start conducting research in the relevant area

What else do we appreciate?

  • industrial certifications in the areas of computer network management, cybersecurity, or operating systems (e.g., CCNA, CCNP Enterprise, CCSA, CEH, JNCIA-Junos, LPIC-1, MTCNA, etc.) or knowledge at their level are an advantage

Job status: in the range of 0,5 – 1,0 (20 – 40 hours per week)
