Academic Position at the Department of Forest Ecology, Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology
Research Area: primary producers, forest microclimate, CO2 fluxes in ecosystems, water cycle
The Department of Forest Ecology addresses a wide range of ecological topics (primary and secondary production, ecological stability, and biodiversity) in the landscape. We are interested in the relationships between organisms and their environment, climate, substances, and humans. The department is primarily focused on scientific research, as evidenced by prestigious results, but we also enjoy teaching. We tackle projects with many domestic and international partners, significantly impacting practice.
What will your job involve?
- teaching in bachelor’s and master’s degree programs
- supervising student thesis on topics such as primary production, microclimate assessment, CO2 fluxes, and the water cycle in forest ecosystems
- developing educational and scientific research activities in the field
- actively participating in scientific tasks related to the topics addressed at the Department of Forest Ecology
- publishing results in professional and scientific journals and contributing to conferences and seminars
- getting involved in initiatives aimed at improving education at the university level
What do we expect from you?
- completed master’s degree, ongoing doctoral studies in a relevant field
- proficient knowledge of the Czech language and advanced knowledge of the English language
- experience teaching at the university level
- experience in project management at least at the level of co-researcher
- publishing activity
- digital skills, experience working with databases, knowledge of basic statistical methods
- driver’s license for category B (active driver)
- ability to work independently and collaboratively
- excellent communication and organizational skills
What research experience do we require?
- experience in a scientific environment
- publishing in journals with an impact factor
What additional qualities will we appreciate?
- creative and innovative approach to problem-solving
- experience with lectures and teaching outside the university environment
- experience supervising student theses as a consultant
- active development of soft skills
- work stays/internships at foreign institutions
- experience with evaluating project proposals and scientific articles

Expected Start Date: January 2026
Contract Duration: Fixed-term for 3 years
