Academic Staff Member – Assistant Professor for the Department of Horticultural Technologies

Research field: agriculture, horticulture, horticultural technology, machines and equipment for post-harvest processing of horticultural products

We are a modern university, teaching and researching agriculture, forestry, economic and technical disciplines in regional and international contexts. Since 2018, we have been the holder of the HR Excellence in Research Award for improving employee care, awarded to us as the first Czech university by the European Commission.

The Department provides instruction in general subjects aimed at expanding students’ knowledge and competencies necessary for successfully continuing their studies in specialized subjects. The specialized courses prepare students to solve problems related to the cultivation, harvesting, post-harvest treatment, and processing of horticultural crops, including basic knowledge of the environmental aspects of horticultural production. These courses are part of all study programs. In the area of scientific research, the Department focuses on technical aspects related to cultivation, harvesting, post-harvest treatment, and processing of horticultural crops, including the composting of residual biomass.

What will be your job role?

• preparation of documents and teaching (lectures, exercises) of technically oriented courses Horticultural Mechanization, Viticultural Mechanization, Machines for Harvesting and Market Adjustment, Techniques for the Processing of Horticultural Waste
• supervision and opposition of students‘ final theses (bachelor, diploma)
• creative activities in the field
• active search, preparation and solution of grant projects and contract research projects
• publication of results in scientific and professional periodicals, presentation of results at national and international conferences

What are our requirements?

• university education at the level of Ph.D. in the field of agriculture, agricultural technology
• professional experience in teaching or professional experience in the field of agricultural technology
• very good level of oral and written expression in Czech and English
• ability to work independently, constructively and responsibly
• positive and proactive approach
• experience in presenting the results of creative activities
• good knowledge of PC work (MS Office, Adobe, Internet, possibly AutoCAD)

Required research experience:

• research experience in the field of Agriculture, Horticulture, Horticultural Machinery, Machines and Equipment for Post-Harvest Processing of Horticultural Products, experience in handling grant projects and contract research orders

Job status: 1,0 (40 hours per week)

Expected start: September 2025

Employment contract: fixed term for 1 year with the possibility of extension
