We are the most successful czech biotechnology startup and we are just getting global. We started 2018 and since then we initiated successful research and development in human molecular diagnostics, original small molecule drug discovery and monoclonal antibodies. We already have product on the diagnostics market and we were the most important developer and manufacturer of COVID-19 PCR tests in the Czech Republic – we brought the most sensitive and patient friendly saliva tests on the market and tripled czech testing capacity, and lowered the cost of the tests at the same time. We continue our mission to provide own products in diverse biotech areas as well as developing our own original medical drugs.

Our unique know how is already covered by several worldwide patents and we are expanding our knowledge and we are thus preparing multiple international patent applications and we are looking for an Patent Specialist to help us with this endeavor.

What will be your responsibilities?

  • You will be the internal expert about the scientific inventions and patent families protecting these inventions.
  • You will cooperate with external law firms to prepare patent filings and other legal actions about the inventions.
  • Communicating with scientists about their inventions and helping them to define claims (in cooperation with the external law firms).
  • Drafting and amending patent applications.
  • Patentability review and freedom to operate analysis: either on your own or helping scientists including patent searches and reviews.
  • Maintaining the patent families including management of payments of fees.

Who are we looking for?

  • Self-motivated professional with positive attitude and team spirit.
  • Professional with strong interest in the biotech inventions and innovations.
  • You have finished PhD or master’s degree or equivalent education in biochemistry, molecular biology, pharmacology, chemistry or related fields.
  • Technical understanding the inventions is more important than the initial knowledge of the law – but you will need to learn some basics as well.
  • You are able to review literature and legislation and learn independently.
  • You work in highly organized matter and with attention to details.
  • You are proficient in both written and spoken English.

What is of advantage but is not a must?

  • General knowledge of relevant IP laws and of the processes of drafting and amending patent applications and experience in patentability reviews.
  • Passing the European qualifying examination at EPO or passing the course at the IPO CZ („ÚPV kurz specialisty v oboru průmyslového vlastnictví“).
